Today, I proudly join millions of Nigerians, sons and daughters of Àkúré Kingdom, and admirers across the world to celebrate an extraordinary elder statesman, nationalist, educationist, progressive leader, and living legend, Reuben Fasoranti, as he marks the historic milestone of 100 remarkable years.
Reaching the age of one hundred in strength, honour, wisdom, and continued relevance is a rare grace from God. Baba’s life has been defined by sacrifice, integrity, courage, discipline, and unwavering dedication to humanity, good governance, and nation building. His journey remains a shining example of purposeful leadership and selfless service.
For us as a younger generation of emerging leaders in Àkúré Kingdom and Nigeria, Pa Fasoranti represents far more than history he represents enduring values. He embodies integrity, patriotism, humility, progressive governance, and people-centered leadership; ideals that continue to inspire many of us in public service and community development today.
As one of the foremost disciples of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Baba Fasoranti stood firmly for justice, equity, quality education, and social development. Through decades of principled leadership, he has remained a respected voice of truth, courage, and moral authority within the Yoruba nation and Nigeria at large.
His contributions to education remain monumental and deeply impactful. Through institutions such as Omolere Nursery and Primary School, Akure High School, and St. Francis’ Academy, Baba invested not merely in buildings, but in generations of human capital development. Countless leaders, professionals, and responsible citizens today are products of the vision, discipline, and sacrifices he made through education.
As Commissioner for Finance during the administration of the late Chief Adekunle Ajasin in the old Ondo State, Baba distinguished himself through prudence, transparency, and exceptional public service. Even at 100, his life continues to command honour, admiration, and respect across political, traditional, and intellectual circles.
To many of us, Baba remains a moral compass, a father figure, and a symbol of the progressive ideals that shaped modern Yoruba leadership. His simplicity, wisdom, consistency, and lifelong devotion to service continue to inspire a new generation committed to building a better society and a stronger Nigeria.
As we celebrate this historic centenary, I honour Pa Reuben Fasoranti for a lifetime of impact, leadership, sacrifice, and service to humanity. I pray that Almighty God continues to grant him peace, strength, joy, and divine grace.
Happy 100th Birthday to a true icon, teacher of values, elder statesman, and pillar of progressive leadership.
