Akure Set For Gospel Extravaganza As Gov’ Aiyedatiwa, Mimiko, Tunji-Ojo Lead Dignitaries To Aremolekun Comeback Concert

An array of eminent personalities from the political, traditional, religious and entertainment circles is expected to converge on Akure, the Ondo State capital on Friday, for the much-anticipated Aremolekun Comeback Music Concert, organised by the Pillar of Bethel Angelic Voices (POBAV).

Among the dignitaries expected at the event are the Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, who is the Special Guest of Honour; the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo; the Minister of Youth Development, Hon. Ayodele Olawande; former Governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, who will serve as the Father of the Day; and the Member representing Ondo East/Ondo West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Abiola Makinde, who will chair the occasion as the Chairman of the Day.

Other prominent guests expected include the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Dr Olayide Adelami; the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji; the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Amidu Takuro; the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon. Idowu Ajanaku; the Chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), Hon. Biyi Poroye; Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan, Ondo State Coordinator of Renewed Hope Ambassadors; Chief Akindele Akin Omole (BOBASELU); Engr. Ade Adetimehin, former Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State; Chief & Pastor (Mrs) Adetunji Adeleye, Commander of the Ondo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun Corps); and Dr Eddy Olafeso, former Ondo State Commissioner for Information.

Traditional rulers expected at the concert include the Olumafon of Imafon, Oba Samuel Adegbehingbe Aliu (Atonlusi I) and the Olumoru of Imoru Kingdom, Oba Oluwarotimi Obamuwagun, who will serve as the Royal Fathers of the Day.

The Spiritual Father of the Day is Primate (Dr) Ade Ademisokun-Turton Onibode, Founder of Success Gate Cherubim and Seraphim Christ’s Church International and Chairman of the Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria, Ondo State Chapter.

The organisers have also lined up an impressive array of gospel ministers who will minister through songs and exhortations. They include Prophet/Bishop Samuel Babatunde Sotitobire, Evang. Funmi Aragbaiye (Mama Sioni), Evang. Akin Adebayo, (Imole Ayo), Evang. Elijah Akintunde (Voice of Elijah), Evang. Toluwalase Adelegan and Evang. Olu-Wale Aniyikaye.

The event will also feature special performances by invited church choirs, which will minister in three batches, while selected artistes from the Gospel Musicians’ Association of Nigeria (GOMAN) will add colour to the occasion with soul-lifting gospel renditions.

The concert, themed “My Prophet, My King (Woli Mi, Oba Mi)”, with the biblical text taken from 2 Chronicles 20:20, is scheduled to hold on Friday, July 10, 2026, beginning at 12 noon, at Motailatu Church of God, Oke-Idahun Parish, Aremolekun Mountain, Kilometre 3, Imafon/Igbatoro Road, Akure.

The host ministry, Pillar of Bethel Angelic Voices (POBAV), was founded in 1997 by Very Rev’d David Akinadewo-Adekahunsi, popularly known as Aremolekun.

Over the past 30 years, the ministry has established itself as one of the leading gospel music groups in Ondo State, using music as a platform for evangelism, worship and moral transformation.

POBAV has released about eleven gospel music albums, including Gbami Mo De, Kowee, God is Spirit, On the Altar, Aremolekun, Orin Imole, Kosolododo, Gbe Motailatu S’oke and the acclaimed Ogo Orimolade, a centenary album produced for the Cherubim and Seraphim Church worldwide, featuring eight other notable gospel artistes.

The organisers said the comeback concert is intended to celebrate God’s faithfulness over three decades of ministry while providing a platform for believers to worship together and experience spiritual renewal through gospel music.

According to the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Mr Hakeem Gbadamosi, the programme will feature three special ministrations by the host choir, Pillar of Bethel Angelic Voices, alongside the six guest ministers, performances by invited church choirs and GOMAN artistes, as well as goodwill messages from distinguished guests.

The organisers have appealed to individuals, corporate organisations and public-spirited Nigerians to partner with the ministry through sponsorship and other forms of support to ensure the success of what promises to be one of the major gospel music events in Ondo State this year.
