The political atmosphere in Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency continues to gather momentum as the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus candidate, Pastor Leke Akingboye, paid a strategic visit to the Chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), Prince Biyi Poroye, in his office yesterday.
The visit, widely seen as a move to consolidate support ahead of the general elections, provided an opportunity for both leaders to reflect on years of political struggle and reaffirm their commitment to the growth of the progressive movement in the constituency.
Speaking during the meeting, Prince Poroye commended Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for recognizing and rewarding loyalty, dedication, and long-standing service to the party. He specifically acknowledged Pastor Akingboye’s unwavering commitment to the progressive cause, tracing his political journey from the days of the Action Congress (AC), through the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), and now the APC.

The Chairman described the Governor’s decision to resolve on Pastor Akingboye as consensus candidates as a step in the right direction, particularly given his roots in the Aiyetoro community, which has been severely affected by sea incursion. He expressed confidence that Pastor Akingboye will be a strong advocate in the Green Chamber, effectively raising awareness and engaging the Federal Government to address the persistent challenges posed by sea incursion in the community.
Poroye recalled that Pastor Akingboye had previously contested for the Ondo State House of Assembly, Ilaje Constituency I, and emerged as the APC candidate in 2015. During that period, he noted, both Pastor Akingboye and the current governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, who was then the party’s candidate for the Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency, worked tirelessly to sustain and strengthen the progressive platform in Ilaje and Ese-Odo Local Government Areas of Ondo State.
“Frankly speaking, I am happy that Governor Aiyedatiwa has recognized your loyalty, commitment, and dedication to the party and has rewarded your hard labour,” Poroye said.
He further assured the APC concensus candidate of his full backing, pledging to mobilize support and engage with aggrieved party members to foster unity within the ranks.
“By the special grace of God, we will give you the needed support and also speak with those who may be aggrieved, encouraging them to reflect on your past contributions which have helped sustain the party in the federal constituency,” he added.
Poroye expressed optimism about Akingboye’s chances at the polls, affirming his confidence in the candidate’s ability to secure victory in the forthcoming general elections.
