Sunshine Queens Earn Chairman’s Praise After Consecutive Victories in Umuahia

The Chairman of the Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA), Mr. Divine Ogbonnaya, has commended the players of Sunshine Queens FC for their resilience and determination after securing back-to-back victories at the ongoing NWFL Championship Playoffs in Umuahia.

Sunshine Queens, who defeated Fortress Ladies 3–0 in their opening match, followed it up with a hard-fought 1–0 triumph over Unification FC of Lagos, thanks to a late header by Victory Lucky. The result puts the Akure-based side on six points from two games and closer to a long-awaited Premier League return.

Mr. Ogbonnaya praised the players for showing great character and fighting spirit, while also expressing gratitude to the Governor of Ondo State for his unwavering support of the team. He further urged the people of Ondo, especially football lovers, to continue to trust in God and in the leadership of ODSFA as the team pushes toward its promotion target.

The players, visibly delighted after the win, expressed appreciation to the ODSFA boss for once again redeeming his pledge following the victory.

They described his timely interventions and motivation as a source of inspiration throughout the playoffs.

Head coach Oseni Rafiu also lauded the chairman for his pivotal role in ensuring that the team’s set goals are achieved.

“His leadership has given us confidence and direction,” the coach stated after the match.
