The development of strong, vibrant, and healthy communities has long been a tenet of the social work profession.

‘’The roles of social work in the community and society are not measurable and can not be over emphasised. Social work is the helping profession. The primary mission of the social work profession is to enhance human well-being and help meet basic and complex needs of all people, with a particular focus on those who are vulnerable, oppressed, and living in poverty.’’

Ambassador Justina Orie on social work informed our correspondent that: Social work is a dynamic profession; the longitude and latitude of the profession are vastly widened. The direct roles of social workers begin with practising primary social work methods. Primary methods are the participatory method with the individual, group and community. Secondary methods are both participatory and non-participatory to benefit society at large. Therefore, the social worker’s role is widened to better individual, group, and community. “Every member of the community desire to stay safe, healthy and healthy in all manners. To enjoy all amenities of the society one who need to have a vibrant economic status as well as excellent public services. Social services and social work have important role in helping the people to improve the quality of life by creating awareness and sustain the community by creating employment opportunities on their own effort. Present paper is an essential contribution to understand the role of social worker in community development (CD). Effective social work service promotes independence and resilience, enabling some of our most vulnerable sections of the community. Present effort is to know the role of social worker in the process of community development. ’’ explained Ambassador Justina Chinyere Orie, the founder and CEO of the Ethan Empowerment Foundation on the importance on giving back and contributing to the society.

Ethan Empowerment Foundation was founded in Lagos Nigeria basically to contribute to the betterment of the society at large. It was inaugurated on Saturday 8th October, 2022 at the Magnificient International Event Center, Ikorodu Road, Somolu, Lagos and the organization has given scholaship to some children who are orphans at the Royal Children School, Papa Ajao Mushin, Lagos in an effort to better to the society.

‘’During our October 2022 monthly outreach, we extended hands of fellowship and gave out household need items, raw food materials as well as clothing materials to the less privilege who are mostly elderly people. The gift receivers appreciated our kind gestures which also encouraged us to do more” narrated Justina.
