SECURITY: YPP Cautions Gov’ Aiyedatiwa,Stop Politicizing People’s Lives

The Young Progressives Party (YPP) Ondo State strongly condemns the escalating violence and killings by herdsmen and other criminal elements in Ondo State. Within the past month alone, over four innocent lives have been lost in separate incidents, leaving families and communities devastated. The incident at Igoba Community on the 5th of July, 2024 where operatives of Amotekun were attacked. Similar incident in Ose LGA on the 20th July 2024, two commuters were killed, while scores were kidapped by unknown gunmen.

Also, according to data from the Ondo State Police Command, there has been a 300% increase in violent crimes in the past year, with herdsmen attacks accounting for over 50% of these incidents.

We urge the Ondo State Government to take immediate and decisive action to address this menace. Empowering Amotekun, the state’s security outfit, is a crucial step towards restoring peace and security.

We also condemns the APC’s government lack of political will in addressing the escalating violence and killings by herdsmen and kidnappers in Ondo State. Despite numerous incidents and pleas from citizens, the Governor’s inaction has emboldened these criminals, perpetuating a culture of impunity.

We urge the Governor to take responsibility and demonstrate the necessary political will to:

  1. Hold perpetrators accountable
  2. Provide adequate support to victims’ families
  3. Empower Amotekun to effectively tackle these security challenges
  4. Collaborate with federal authorities to address the root causes of these crises
  5. Establishing a dedicated task force to tackle herdsmen violence.
  6. Implementing a robust community policing strategy.

We demand a safer Ondo State for all citizens as we appeal that voters should vote for John Otito Akinmurele and Ayodele Obe of the Young Progressives Party in the forthcoming November 16, 2024 governorship elections, so as to birth a new government that truly cares for you and I.

“Enough is enough!”

Signed.
Comrade Dotun Ojon,
Chairman,
Young Progressives Party, YPP.
Ondo State
