Relief for Retirees as Ondo Begins ₦1.4 Billion Gratuity Payment
The Ondo State Government has commenced the payment of ₦1.4 billion in outstanding gratuities to pensioners in the local government and primary school sectors.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony held at the Governor’s Office, Alagbaka, Akure, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa stated that the ₦1.4 billion disbursement covers the total gratuities owed to retirees since 2014.
The governor further explained that families of workers who lost their lives in active service would also benefit from the payment, as the gratuities of the deceased will be released to their next of kin.

Earlier, the Head of Service, Mr. Bayo Philip, represented by a permanent secretary in the ministry of health Dr. Adeniran Ikuemola, commended the governor for his compassion towards the elderly and retirees in Ondo State and urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the funds and to prioritize their health and well-being.
Speaking in an interview one of the beneficiary and a retired school teacher Mrs Rachel Adewuyi who could not hide her joy prayed that the governor would be enabled to do more for pensioners and other aged persons in the state.

In his vote of thanks, the Ondo State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Mr. Joshson Osunyemi, expressed appreciation to the governor for his steadfast support and urged him to continue paying attention to the welfare of pensioners across the state.
