ONDO ELECTION: YPP Kicks Against Exclusion From Channels Debate
The Young Progressives Party (YPP) strongly condemns the gross marginalization and blatant disregard for democratic principles displayed by Channels TV and the organizers of the governorship debate in Ondo State. By inviting only the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to participate, while excluding other political parties, they have made a mockery of the democratic process and the principles of fairness and inclusivity.
This shameful act is a clear attempt to stifle the voices of alternative parties and limit the choices available to the people of the State. The YPP demands an explanation from Channels TV and the debate organizers for this blatant exclusion. We call on all well-meaning Nigerians, civil society organizations, and the international community to join us in condemning this undemocratic action.
The Nigerian people have a right to know the policies, manifestos, and visions of all candidates, regardless of party affiliation. By denying other parties a platform, Channels TV and the debate organizers have deprived the people of this fundamental right.
This action is a threat to the very foundations of democracy and the principles of free and fair elections. We will not stand idly by while the democratic process is undermined. We demand that Channels TV and the debate organizers take immediate action to rectify this situation and ensure that all parties are given equal opportunities to participate.
We call on our supporters, Nigerians, and the international community to join us in protesting this injustice. We demand that Channels TV and the debate organizers:
- Immediately extend invitations to all qualified political parties
- Provide a level playing field for all candidates to present their manifestos and policies
- Ensure that the debate is conducted in a fair, transparent, and unbiased manner
The YPP will not be silenced or marginalized. We will continue to fight for the rights of Nigerians to have a free and fair election. We will not rest until all parties are given equal opportunities to participate in the democratic process.
Signed,
State Chairman, Young Progressives Party
