No Plan to Remove Amotekun Commander, Gov’ Aiyedatiwa Insists Amid Pressure
Governor Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo state, on Monday, reaffirmed his total confidence in the state Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, declaring that he will not bow to pressure or politically motivated campaigns seeking the commander’s removal.
The governor made the declaration at the inaugural Annual General Meeting of the Amotekun Corps Cooperative and Thrift Society, held at the Corps Headquarters in Akure, Ondo state capital.
Aiyedatiwa’s remarks followed persistent social media claims and underground lobbying suggesting that Adeleye was at risk of being relieved of his duties.

But Aiyedatiwa, who dismissed the rumours as baseless and an orchestrated attempt to destabilise the state’s security architecture, said no amount of blackmail or sponsored campaigns designed to remove the security head would succeed.
He reiterated that Adeleye’s impeccable track record, steadfast commitment, and unquestionable professionalism place him far above any insinuation or doubt.
He said, “I will not relieve the Amotekun Commander of his post despite pressure. There are no social media narratives that can remove you. Your dedication to this work is clear for everyone to see.”
The Governor revealed that certain individuals had gone as far as submitting petitions and secretly pressuring the government in hopes of engineering Adeleye’s removal.
He said such moves were driven by personal and political motives, not genuine concerns about security management.

“They reported you to me so that I could sack you, but I have told him, he is going nowhere. We cannot allow people who thrive on misinformation and manipulation to mislead the state.” Aiyedatiwa said
Aiyedatiwa underscored the pivotal role of the Amotekun Corps in combating kidnapping, robbery, and other threats across Ondo communities.
He credited the outfit under Adeleye’s leadership with helping to stabilise the state during challenging periods.
According to him, the Amotekun Corps forms a critical backbone of his administration’s “OUR EASE” security strategy, which places a premium value on local intelligence, community participation, and inter-agency synergy.
He said, “Security is a collective responsibility. This administration will continue to support the Amotekun Corps with all necessary resources, while strengthening collaboration with the police, DSS, NSCDC, the military, and other security partners. Our priority is the safety of every resident in Ondo State.”

The Governor’s remarks effectively put to rest speculation surrounding the Amotekun command structure, while sending a clear message to those attempting to sow unrest within the system
