Hoodlums Preventing Us from Honouring Late Akeredolu- Ilesha Garage Leaders

The leadership of Mojere Market Community popularly known as Ilesha Garage on Friday said some hoodlums were not allowing them to honour the memory of the former governor of the state by closing the market for one day.

This is contained in a statement made available to newsmen by the Chairman and Secretary of the community,Mr Kolawole Falae and Lawrence Ayodeji respectively.

According to the statement, the community wanted to use the one-day closure to honour and appreciate the good gestures of the late former governor to the community.

“We, the entire community of Mojere, commonly known as Ilesha Garage Motor Spare Parts Market, wish to express our grievances regarding recent events within the market.

“The community, reeling from the news of the passing of the former Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, we united to pay homage to his memory by shutting the market for a day.

However, the solemn tribute was met with hostility and aggression, igniting a series of violent clashes that have left the market in disarray.

“Efforts to celebrate the life and time of the late Governor have been hampered by suspected hoodlums, purportedly backed by dissenters seeking to undermine his legacy.

“These tensions reached a boiling point as marauding mobs descended upon the market, unleashing a wave of destruction and chaos, leaving property vandalized and livelihoods shattered.

“In the aftermath of this brazen attack, fear has gripped the market, prompting an exodus of frightened occupants seeking refuge from the escalating violence.

“Business operations have come to a halt, with the once-thriving marketplace now paralyzed by uncertainty and fear.

“Amidst this turmoil, we the leaders want to use this avenue to issue a fervent plea to the state government, calling for urgent intervention to restore peace and stability to Mojere Market.

“We plead to the state governor, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa, as a matter of urgency to intervene because our livelihoods are hanging in the balance and tensions are running high.” The statement said.
