DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: My Husband Threatens To Kill Me,Woman Cries Out In Ondo

A Non-Governmental movement in Ondo State known as Help For the Depressed as once again frowned at the persistent rate of Domestic Violence in the Society.

The latest call emerged after a woman in her thirties Victoria Odumegu reported that her husband Chijioke Odumegu threatened to kill and bury her bedside her late mother after receiving another bout of beating from the husband sometimes during the week .

According to Victoria who spoke with journalist in Akure she has never known peace eversince they got married in 2017 saying her husband has virtually turned her into a punching bag inflicting all sorts of Injuries on her in the process.

Victoria who claimed she had earlier thought her man was being protective during their courtship days whenever he was shouting and always monitoring her movement never knew he was going to turn into a woman beater.

“At first when we courting I thought he was being protective whenever he shouts at me over little things infact the he was always monitoring my movement wherever I went to not knowing the was yet to come when we eventually get married as doesn’t hesitate to lay his fists on me whenever he pleases.

However, Victoria whose parents are late finally got tired of the whole situation when Chijioke who she claims doesn’t care whether she is backing their only child together a five year old girl whenever he wants to beat her up said he will kill her and bury her beside her late mother after inflicting her with another series of facial and body injuries.

“Just last week he beat me up mercilessly in his usual manner and he even threatened to kill me and bury by my late mother’s grave and that’s when I decided it was time for to run for my dear life and that of my daughter as I have to consider our safety”

When asked what she desires at this stage of their marriage Victoria said she needed a break from the union while stating that she wants him to give her moblie phones and a bag containing five hundred thousand naira which is money meant for her business so she can move on with her life.

“All I request from him now is for him to return my mobile phones and my bag containing five hundred thousand naira meant for my business then I will just walk from this marriage”

While answering questions from some elders of the wife’s Church Chijioke admitted he actually threatened to kill and bury her beside her mother’s grave out of annoyance .

While reacting to the scenerio the CEO of the Help For the Depressed Foundation Temidayo Olajumoke Falade condemned the act saying such acts should not go unpurnished so as to serve as deterrent to all other women and wife beaters.

“As you can see from the pictorial evidences this man is no doubt a callous and heartless being for treating this young woman in the manner he has been doing since 2017 and that’s why we will stop at nothing but to ensure she gets justice I mean all this kind of acts must be discouraged to the bearest minimum.

The Help for the Depressed Foundation is an Ondo State based NGO which as its name implies is out to discourage maltreatment of the weaker sexes that suffers depression from Domestic Violence.
