DHQ confirms foiled coup plot against President Tinubu

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has confirmed an attempted coup aimed at overthrowing President Bola Tinubu.

In a statement, the Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, said investigations into the alleged coup attempt have been concluded.

He added that officers found to be involved will be arraigned before the appropriate military judicial panels in accordance with the Armed Forces Act and other applicable service regulations.

In October 2025, 16 officers were arrested over acts of indiscipline and breaches of service regulations.
