Comrade Alhasan Yahaya Elected New NUJ National President

Comrade Alhasan Yahaya has been elected as the new president of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

The election occurred during the National Triennial Delegate Conference held at the Sam Mbakwe Hall in Owerri, Imo State.

Announcing the results, the chairman of the electoral committee, Mr. Mike Iheagwu, declared the following votes: Comrade Garba Mohammed received 39 votes, Comrade Dele Atunbi received 97 votes, and Comrade Alhasan Yahaya secured a decisive victory with 436 votes.

In his acceptance speech, the new NUJ president expressed gratitude to journalists nationwide for their support and pledged his commitment to the welfare of members.

Comrade Alhasan Yahaya promised to collaborate closely with relevant stakeholders and uphold the professionalism of the journalism profession, emphasizing that “there is no victor, no vanquished.

The new president, who hails from the Gombe State also honored the immediate past NUJ president Dr Chris Isiguzo by decorating him as a fellow of the NUJ National council.
