Appeal Court Verdict: Ondo Lawmaker, Oladapo Congratulates Aiyedatiwa
The lawmaker representing Ondo West Constituency II at the Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. Biola Oladapo, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the State Governor, Hon Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and his Deputy, Dr Olayide Adelami, on their emphatic victory at the Court of Appeal
In a statement made available to journalists in Akure, Hon.Oladapo described the appellate court’s verdict as a strong affirmation of the judiciary as the hope of the common man and a crucial pillar of democracy.
Describing the triumph as “The utimate judicial stamp on the landslide victory of the APC flagbearer in the November 16, 2024 governorship poll,” Hon. Oladapo lauded the appeal verdict as a historic milestone in Nigeria’s electoral jurisprudence.
He stated that the ruling was not only a reaffirmation of democracy and the rule of law but also a landmark judgment that will serve as a reference point for generations to come.
Hon.Oladapo called on the opposition, particularly the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) flag bearer, Agboola Ajayi,as well as contenders from the SDP, ADC, and APM, and other to accept the verdict in good faith and join hands with Aiyedatiwa in the collective task of moving Ondo State forward politically, economically, and socially.
While acknowledging that election petitions are a legitimate part of democracy and a constitutional avenue for seeking redress, he praised the opposition for pursuing legal channels rather than resorting to self-help.
He, however, urged them to now put politics aside and work in unity with the governor for the greater good of Ondo State.
The Lawmaker admonished party members and supporters to be magnanimous in victory, while urging opposition elements to embrace the spirit of sportsmanship, as governance is about collective progress, not division.
He enjoined all citizens of Ondo State, regardless of political, ethnic, or religious affiliations, to rally behind Aiyedatiwa’s transformative OUR EASE agenda, now that the legitimacy of his election had been unequivocally affirmed.
“This is a victory for democracy, the rule of law, and the great people of Ondo State,” Oladapo declared.
“On behalf of the Ondo West constituency 2,I wholeheartedly congratulate His Excellency, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, the leadership of our great party, and the good people of Ondo State.
It will be recalled that on Thursday, July 31, the Court of Appeal sitting in Akure and presided over by Justices Nimpar Yargata, K.I. Amadi, and I.M. Sani, unanimously dismissed the appeals filed by the PDP, ADC, APM, and SDP for lack of merit, stating that the petitioners failed to prove substantial non-compliance with the Electoral Act.
” Now is the time to put aside our differences and work together for the progress, development, and prosperity of our dear state”, he concluded.
