Dr. Olusola Calls For Road Rehabilitation, Public Awareness To Curb Fuel Accidents

A university lecturer, Dr. Olusola Oluwadumiye, has urged relevant stakeholders to take proactive measures to ensure safety amid the frequent fuel tanker explosions in the country.

Speaking with journalists at the Oduduwa University Ipetumodu Osun State, Dr. Oluwadumiye, a communication expert, emphasized the need for the federal government to prioritize the reconstruction of dilapidated roads and the installation of proper road signs to enhance safety.

He also called on organizations like the National Orientation Agency to intensify public awareness campaigns against fuel scooping whenever a tanker accident occurs.

Additionally, Dr. Oluwadumiye advocated for stringent checks on long-haul vehicles to confirm their roadworthiness and stressed the importance of periodic training for drivers before they are certified to operate fuel tankers.
