Veteran Nollywood actor Francis Duru has died at the age of 57 after a brief illness, his family has announced.
The family confirmed his death in a statement posted on his official Instagram account early on Friday, thanking fans and well-wishers for their prayers, love and support.
They also prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul.
News of Duru’s death comes months after he denied reports that he was suffering from a life-threatening illness.
In June, a video showing the actor appearing frail circulated on social media, prompting concern among fans and colleagues over his health.
Duru later addressed the reports in a video posted on Instagram, describing the footage as fabricated and malicious.
