Poroye’s Development Drive Gains Momentum As Aboto–Atijere Road Advances, 2m-Gallon Sedimentation Tank Nears Completion
The Executive Chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), Prince Biyi Poroye, has intensified the Commission’s infrastructure drive with an inspection of the ongoing construction of the 28.5-kilometre Aboto–Atijere Road and rehabilitation works at the 2 Million Gallons Per Day, Concrete Sedimentation (MGD) Aboto Water Treatment Plant.
The inspection underlined the Commission’s commitment to delivering critical infrastructure capable of transforming transportation, improving access to potable water and stimulating economic activities across its mandate areas.
At the Aboto–Atijere Road project site, Poroye observed that earthworks, involving sand filling, had extended to Atijere community, making the route passable to utility vehicles.

He also disclosed that the contractor has accelerated construction works on the culverts to enhance drainage, strengthen the road structure and improve its durability.
The Chairman further revealed that Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa had directed that the road be constructed with adequate thickness and appropriate surfacing to accommodate the anticipated volume of traffic.
The directive, he explained, was aimed at ensuring that the road meets the transportation needs of the people, withstands traffic pressure and delivers lasting value to the benefiting communities.

In a related development, Poroye inspected ongoing construction works at the Aboto Water Treatment Plant, where a new concrete sedimentation tank, clarifier and aeration tank are being constructed to strengthen the facility’s treatment infrastructure.
With a treatment capacity of two million gallons per day, the plant is a strategic component of efforts to improve access to potable water across the benefiting communities.
The ongoing works are expected to enhance the plant’s treatment processes and support the delivery of safe, treated water to its intended beneficiaries.

The sedimentation tanks, clarifier and aeration tank each play important roles in the water treatment process, helping to improve the quality of raw water and make it safe for consumption.
Together, these treatment components are expected to improve the plant’s operational efficiency, enhance water quality and strengthen the delivery of cleaner, safer water to communities within OSOPADEC’s mandate areas.
