Ahead of the maiden edition of the DJs Nationwide Southwest Summit slated to hold in Ondo State, the executives of the Ondo State Chapter of DJs Association of Nigeria (DJAN) and the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Felix Ohagwu, psc, mnips, mspsp in his office in Akure.
While hosting the DJs in his office, the Police Commissioner emphasized the importance of lawful conduct, noting that while the constitution guarantees freedom of association, members must remain law-abiding at all times and always carry valid means of identification.
“Even the pepper sellers in the market have an association, hence people with the same craft or trade can come together and form an association which will in turn help regulate their activities,” the CP said.
“If you belong to an association like that of the DJs, always ensure you carry your identity cards along with you at all times while equally staying out of trouble,” he added.
The Commissioner assured the team of the Command’s support during the nationwide summit, urging them to make available their detailed program of activities for the 3-day event.
“We will support the event. Our men are with you and will be working along with your program of activities. All you have to do is liaise with the unit in charge of that,” CP Ohagwu assured.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the Chairman of the LOC/Excos, DJ OTENTIK, expressed delight at the warm reception accorded to the team by the Police Commissioner, describing it as a major boost and recognition for the DJ craft in the state.
“We want to express our delight at being given this wholesome privilege of meeting with the Ondo State Police Commissioner who actually welcomed us warmly,” he said.
The LOC/Excos team also solicited future collaborations with the Nigeria Police Force, particularly in areas of youth engagement, peace advocacy, and entertainment-led campaigns against social vices.
The DJs Nationwide Southwest Summit is scheduled to hold in Akure from October 26 to 28, 2026, with an expected convergence of over 500 DJs, entertainers, government officials, brands, and media stakeholders from across the country.
