SECURITY: Schools Shut In Ondo Over Bandits Scare

The Chairman of Odigbo Local Government Area in Ondo- State, Chief Taiwo Adegoroye, has ordered the immediate closure of all public and private schools within the council area until further notice.

The directive contained in a statement from the chairman’s aide, Comrade Olatunji Babatunde is in response to the prevailing security challenges in the country and aimed at safeguarding lives and property, especially those of pupils, students, teachers, and other school workers.

Candidates currently writing national examinations are however exempted from the directive for examination purposes.

The Council Chairman warned that any school found violating the directive would face appropriate sanctions in line with the law.

He also appealed to parents and guardians to closely monitor their children and discourage unnecessary movements in order to ensure their safety.

Chief Adegoroye stated that the government was working closely with security agencies and relevant stakeholders to strengthen security across the local government.
