2023: We Didn’t Endorse Any Opposition Candidate Says Ondo SDP

The Social Democratic Party, SDP, Ondo state chapter has described as false the rumors making the rounds that the party has endorsed a house of assembly candidate of another opposition party.

A statement by Hon. Stephen Adewale, Ondo State Chairman of SDP and made available to Roving Reporters Online said, “The attention of the state leadership of Ondo State Social Democratic Party (SDP), has been drawn to a flier flying that is circulating, in which it is falsely claimed that our Party endorsed a candidate of an opposition party in Akoko North West Constituency II.

“For the avoidance of doubt, SDP has already presented a qualified young man, Adeyanju Olagoke who is popularly known as “Goke is OK” as our flagbearer for the Member of House of Assembly (MHA) in Akoko North West Constituency II and all our party members are fully behind him.

“We have taken steps to investigate this and we discovered that these illegal acts are being perpetrated by one Oluwatuyi Adetokunbo Aderemi, Moses Aribisala, Aina Balogun, Aremo Niyi and Samuel Sunday.

“We wish to inform members of the public that the above-named unscrupulous individuals have no affiliation or relationship with SDP in whatever form or shape.

“We hereby dissociate our great party for these dubious elements who are stealing the names and logo of SDP to dupe unenlightened and imprudent politicians from the opposition parties.

“Their antics was to halt the moving train of our progressive candidates in Akoko North West, cause disaffection within the ranks of the party, and engender opprobrium and portray our Party as an irresponsible political institution in the eyes of the good people of Akoko North West Local Government who love and hold the SDP in high regard as a credible alternative political party and a beacon of hope for national recovery, especially as 2023 approaches. Unfortunately for them, they failed woefully on arrival as our people are now wiser than their frolics.

“Above all, we hereby emphasise that such act of recklessness if unchecked appropriately by the relevant security agencies and authorities could lead to a significant breach of peace across the Local Government if thousands of other genuine members of the Party decide to challenge or confront these elements of questionable characters elements in order to safeguard the party’s true interest.

“The Ondo SDP hereby calls on all our well-meaning and patriotic members in Akoko North West Local Government to discountenance their impersonation and to remain calm as we go about our mobilization and campaign as victory is nearer now than when we started this race
